Last day in New York
And looking back, I’ve made some incredible memories, met great friends, and carved out a pretty bright future.
It was sometimes hard, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
New York, I love you, this isn’t goodbye.

19 full days left in New York
And I’m trying to figure out how to spend them.
It’s been a blast so far but I feel like there’s a lot I’ve missed, so as soon as Maddie gets here, we’re going to tear things up!
Then it’s back to California for my 21st, and after that back to my favorite place on earth.

FIRST DAY
Was surprisingly fantastic.
I wrote two stories (and hence got two bylines), my boss is the sweetest, and generally everything seems super chill.
Tomorrow all the interns are getting lunch with the owner of the company, so hopefully I’ll be getting to know them!

finally settled in New York
after two sleepless nights, as many missed buses and one of the best weeks of my life.
Suzanne moves in to the city tomorrow, I’m starting work on Monday (!) and I’m having lunch with all the other interns and the owner of Abrams Media on Tuesday. In the meantime, I’m really enjoying the beautiful view from my window.
Let the games begin!
TOMORROW
AND THE NEXT DAY
AND THE NEXT DAY
tearin’ up the Eastern seaboard!

work shoes
all professional and (almost) all under $100. Now if only I had money with which to by them!
birthday schtuff
in a nutshell: cute sneaks, the first season of The Wire, a bracelet watch, replacement hoops and Kate Spade glasses (both of which were lost at concerts this year, on separate occasions), an iPhone case and supplies so I can stop spending so much money on shitty campus coffee.
also, alcohol would be nice. BECAUSE I’M GOING TO BE 21 BETCHESSSSSS
off to the races!
I went to the gym both today and yesterday to start training for my 5k. Today I beasted 3.15 miles on the treadmill (including warm up and cool down) and ran for 30 minutes without stopping. I don’t have a goal time in which I want to finish, but I do want to be able to run the 3.1 miles. And I still have a few weeks to train - I want to build up to running 4 miles straight so the race feels...

to do list now that i have free time
1. Go to the gym. Taking a yoga class next year will help this.
2. Take advantage of the awesome lectures on campus that always seem to be scheduled during production time. I really should have gone to Margaret Atwood’s talk, though…
3. Go to concerts. D.C. has fantastic venues that I haven’t been able to get to. I’m still mad about missing out on Alex Winston.
4. Cook....
end of an era
My term as copy chief at The Hoya officially ended yesterday, and Emily has taken over.
It went by in the blink of an eye, but I had a good run. I am perfectly happy with my decision to leave and try something different….I need to gain another perspective. Here’s to new beginnings.

I am so incredibly excited
to study abroad.
To be honest, up until now I really wasn’t. I felt like I was getting shipped off to a foreign country where I would have to completely start over with no family or friends. But now I’ve realized that starting over will be the beauty of it. Other than school, I will have no obligations - nowhere to be, no one that I’m responsible to, no deadlines. I will be able...

virtual packing list for Ireland
I guess I take after my dad in that I really pride myself on being an efficient packer. So, my ultimate goal is to be able to take just one small duffel bag with me on spring break. This will be especially difficult, because Dublin is going to be chilly…the temperature is supposed to hover around the high 40s, and I’m going to be tempted to fill an entire suitcase with oversized...

SEPTUM PIERCINGS ARE FROM HELL
Exhibit A: Givenchy men’s fall 2012
WHY.
Relatedly, I have very strong opinions about runway shows lately.
Giambattista Valli Spring 2012
This is one of the most beautiful collections I’ve seen in a long time. It starts off lovely and keeps gets more and more enchanting with each look, before finishing with what I think is one of my favorite dresses of all time.

just some thoughts
Lately I can’t help but think about what a crazy life I’ve been living here at school, and how it’s all taking place in an even crazier little world. Georgetown is a bizarre place - it’s incredible to me that we can all be so aware of the world that surrounds us and the problems facing it, and yet be completely insulated from that greater world by our privilege. The...

goodbye 2011
Good riddance.
It was a year full of firsts, lasts and heartbreaks and honestly I’m glad to see it go. That being said, in the past 12 months I’ve realized how truly blessed I am to have the people that are in my life and how much I love them, as well as what a strong person I can be when the situation calls for it.
Like my dad said to me this morning, there’s nothing magical...

New Years Resolutions
This set represents two of my New Years resolutions: to start working heels that don’t make me feel ridiculous into my everyday wardrobe and to try using Polyvore to its full extent. Most bloggers don’t utilize all of the awesome tools available to them on Polyvore, like textures, colors and text, so I’m going to try my hand at making my sets a little artsier and more fun to look...
