Sam’s daily affirmations part deux
To say that I wasn’t excited to go back to school after Thanksgiving break would be a massive understatement - I was incredibly burned out and I was dreading boarding the plane that would take me back to D.C. That being said, I’ve been having an awesome time since I’ve been back, and for the first time this semester I feel like things are falling into place. Yesterday was a particularly nice day (despite the fact that my mom told me she that and my dad are going to Thailand without me in May. Rude). I went out to dinner at Pain Quotidien and desert at Baked & Wired with Ellie, Georgetown upset ‘Bama with a crazy three-pointer in the last three seconds of the game, we actually made deadline, and to top it all off, I ACTUALLY GOT THE INTERNSHIP AT COLLEGE FASHION.
I’m still kind of in a state of disbelief, but I’m so so happy. I was hesitant to apply at first because I thought it was such a long shot, but this has shown me that when I put myself out there I just might be pleasantly surprised.
This sounds really lame, but this one success has kind of restored my faith in myself. My resume isn’t going to be completely devoid of any real-world experience anymore. I don’t come across as completely useless to anyone outside the Georgetown community, nor will I in the future. Right now, I just want to focus on doing my job well and using this as a stepping stone to bigger and better things. In the words of my dear friend Jimmy Brooks Drake: I’M DOIN’ ME. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
